New Jersey LCV Insight: Transportation is responsible for approximately 45% of New Jersey’s greenhouse gas emissions, and school buses are the most commonly used form of public transportation in the country. This bill helps New Jersey begin to transition from a dirty diesel school bus fleet to an electric one, one of the best ways to reduce emissions and localized air pollution to drive down emissions and protect our children’s health. Electric School can also serve to reduce peak power demand by using the batteries in the summer when not in use to power the grid during high demand.
